What was once a traditional fishing village
has become the most famous and largest beach resort in Thailand.
Pattaya lies 147 kilometres to the southeast
of Bangkok, less than two hours by road, and stretches for
some 15 kilometres along the Eastern Seaboard. Its perfect
sunny climate provides the ideal vacation for swimming and
water activities such as fishing, water skiing, para-sailing,
and wind surfing.
In addition, there are many land sports
to choose from, including car racing, horse riding, golf,
bowling, tennis.
When the sun sets on Pattaya, visitors will
be amazed at the sheer scale of dining
and entertainment experiences on offer here. There is local
and international cuisine from all over the world with many
fine restaurants and more simple eateries.
Pattaya's lively and colourful nightlife is legendary, with
exotic cabaret shows, numerous pubs and bars playing live
music, discotheques, and Thai boxing matches. For those who
prefer quieter venues, there are many places to be found that
offer softer music in a more relaxed environment. All in all,
Pattaya offers something for everyone both day and night.
Climate
Pattaya follows a similar climate to the majority of Thailand.
Warm and humid all year round, with temperatures at their
highest during the months of March and April, where temperatures
can get up to 37 degrees Celsius. The coolest and less humid
season is from November to February, and the rainy season
is from June to October. During the rainy season, it doesn't
rain everyday and when it rains it is usually a brief intense
downpour with the sun coming out again. And being located
on the east coast of Thailand, you will always have the pleasant
and refreshing sea breeze coming in from the Gulf of Thailand.
